Supporting Technology Entrepreneurs in Waterloo Region
We help founders and leadership teams navigate the practical challenges of building successful technology companies
Return HomeOur Story
Haldane was founded in early 2024 to address a specific need in the Waterloo Region technology ecosystem. Many talented entrepreneurs were building promising companies but facing practical challenges in areas like product-market validation, organizational scaling, and investment preparation. Traditional consulting approaches often proved too theoretical or disconnected from the realities of early-stage technology companies.
Our founding team brought direct experience from both operating roles in technology companies and supporting entrepreneurs through growth phases. This combination of perspectives informed our approach: focused engagements that combine strategic thinking with practical implementation guidance, structured around the specific challenges technology founders actually face.
Since our inception, we have worked with more than 30 technology companies across software, digital services, and technology-enabled sectors. Our clients range from pre-seed startups validating initial concepts to Series A companies preparing for significant scaling. This diversity of engagements continuously informs our understanding of what works in practice.

Our recommendations are grounded in both research on effective practices and direct experience with what works in technology company development. We focus on approaches with demonstrated results.
Collaborative Engagement
We work alongside your team rather than delivering recommendations from outside. This collaborative approach ensures insights are practical and implementation is realistic for your organization.
Confidentiality Standards
We maintain strict confidentiality protocols for all client information. Our agreements include comprehensive non-disclosure provisions and we have never shared client details without explicit permission.
Regional Network
Our deep connections within Waterloo Region's entrepreneurial ecosystem enable introductions to relevant resources, potential partners, and investor contacts when appropriate for your stage.
Clear Agreements
Each engagement operates under a clear scope of work with defined deliverables, timelines, and pricing. We believe transparency in expectations benefits both parties and leads to better outcomes.
Our Values and Expertise
Technology entrepreneurship requires navigating complex challenges with imperfect information and limited resources. Founders need practical guidance that acknowledges these realities while helping them make informed decisions about product development, organizational structure, market positioning, and growth strategy.
Our team combines direct operating experience with structured consulting expertise. We understand both the theoretical frameworks for business development and the practical constraints of building technology companies. This dual perspective allows us to provide guidance that is both strategically sound and operationally feasible.
The Waterloo Region hosts one of Canada's most active technology ecosystems, with particular strength in software, hardware, and technology-enabled services. We have worked extensively within this environment and understand its specific characteristics: the investor landscape, talent market, support infrastructure, and community dynamics. This regional expertise informs our work with local companies.
We focus on areas where we can provide meaningful value: early-stage validation, organizational development, growth strategy, and investment preparation. For challenges outside our core expertise, we help clients identify appropriate specialists. We believe effective consulting requires both knowing what you do well and acknowledging what falls outside that scope.
The technology landscape evolves continuously, requiring ongoing learning and adaptation. We maintain active engagement with industry developments, participate in entrepreneurial community activities, and regularly exchange perspectives with other practitioners. This keeps our approach current while grounding it in proven principles.
